Summer Financial Aid

Leeward CC students attending summer may be eligible to receive financial aid to assist with costs. Financial aid for the summer term is limited to only federal aid: Federal Pell Grant and Federal Direct Loan Programs. Due to limitations on the eligibility of the Federal Pell Grant and Federal Direct Loan Programs, not all students will be eligible for financial assistance during the summer. The Financial Aid Office will begin to award summer aid starting in May. Students will be notified via their UH email once their financial aid award is available.

Eligibility Requirements for Summer Aid:

  • Filed a 2023-24 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and listed Leeward Community College (School Code: 004549).
  • Meet all financial aid Basic Eligibility Requirements.
  • Have not petitioned to graduate for Spring 2024.
  • Be registered by our school’s Summer Enrollment Level Census Date, June 11, 2024. Please remember that you can only receive financial aid for courses that apply to your degree.
  • Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAP) at the end of the Spring 2024 semester; if you are a continuing student, summer financial aid is contingent upon SAP.

If you would like to be considered for Summer Financial Aid, please email us at lccfao@hawaii.edu once you have registered for your Summer courses.

    Additional Summer Information

    Summer Enrollment Level Census Date

The Enrollment Level Census Date is for the purpose of determining your enrollment level for the semester. The Enrollment Level Census Date for Summer is June 11, 2024. On this census date we will record your enrollment level (number of credits enrolled that apply to your degree program) as of that date, which will determine your eligibility for financial aid awards for the semester. Courses that are added after this “census date” will not be included into your financial aid enrollment level for the semester.

Time frame and Method of Disbursement

    In general:

      • Pell Grant funds will disburse once you begin attendance.
      • Student loan funds will disburse once you begin attendance. All student loans require two separate disbursement, first at the beginning of the loan period and the second at the midpoint of the loan period.

Disbursements are processed electronically, and applied to your student account, whether or not you have any outstanding tuition/fee charges.  If you have excess funds/credit balance, the Cashier’s Office will process a refund.
