Construction Projects

Second Flagpole

Construction work began on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 for the installation of the College's second flagpole on the Pearl City campus.  Several parking stalls directly mauka of the Bus Stop pavilion will be reserved for contractor bins and equipment.  Please be aware and respectful of the construction barriers that will be in place.

This project is part of the UH system initiative to install two flag poles on each of the main campuses for all ten colleges of universities of the UH system.

First Week Fall 2018

All the construction on campus will result in improved facilities, but right now, it can be challenging to find your class, or the easiest way to get to counseling! Sp we thought a bright, airy contest would lighten the day! Last night we placed 4 balloon clusters on campus. When you see one, snap a selfie or a photo of a friend and share on Instagram with #FirstWeekLeeward.

Where's DH-E?

Map showing location of DH-E, on the makai side of the OCEWD complex

Once again, several classes are being offered in classrooms located behind the OCEWD complex. This is the second time we've used the building for classes and many students are looking at their schedule with a quizzical look. Where is DH-E? To help locate the classrooms, we wanted to share this close-up of DH-E's location and how to get there! With the Theatre renovations continuing, the portable at the back end of campus on the diamond head side is a bit hard to find. If you have a class in DH-E, you might want to park in the side lot, or the newest parking lot behind the OCEWD Complex.

The Greening of the Green Room

Mike Harada and student Sasha Lee

A beautiful mural graces the walls of the Richard Aadland Green Room, located in the basement level of The Leeward Theatre.  Inspired by French painter, Henri Rousseau, Leeward CC student Sachiyo “Sasha” Lee designed and painted the mural with help from friends Jordan Miller and Kelen Uslan.

The project was supervised by Assistant Professor Michael Harada, who also helped with the overall vision of the mural.
