New Program to Help with Math Placement

Are you ready for college? 
Then you need to prepare for the required math placement exam! The Online Learning Academy (University of Hawaii) is offering a FREE math prep program through EdReady, an online program which identifies gaps in your knowledge and prepares you to do your best on this exam. EdReady creates a self-paced, personalized learning plan to help you acquire additional skills and content knowledge for your specific needs. EdReady is available 24 hours a day and seven days a week.

Ka Manaʻo Excellence Acknowledged

Ka Manaʻo, the campus publication of Leeward Community College, took top honors for School Newspaper Excellence at the Hawaii Publisher Association's Paʻi Awards on Thursday, May 15 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. The Hawaii Publishers Association is a nonprofit media organization that promotes the print publishing industry in Hawaii.

Outstanding Chemistry Students Honored

Congratulations to our award-winning chemistry students!

The Hawaii Chapter of the American Chemical Society (ACS) honored the following students as Outstanding Chemistry Students of Year at Leeward CC during their annual awards banquet held Tuesday, May 6 at the Kaʻikena Restaurant.  Each student was recognized by the organization, received a certificate from the ACS Hawaii Chapter, and were treated to a buffet dinner.  Professor Michael Reese, Dr. Bradley Ashburn, and Dr. Jeffrey Tibbitt presented the honorees with their awards.

Emme Gets Her AA Degree!

On May 7, 2014, at the UH Alumni Awards Dinner, Chancellor Manny Cabral was honored to present longtime island TV personality, Emme Tomimbang with her AA degree after she had attended Leeward for two years from 1968-1970 and then transferred to Manoa with full junior status.

Leeward Students Break into Top Ten Speakers in Debate Tournament

Eighteen bold students represented Leeward CC on March 15 at the Warrior Intramural Debate Tournament, hosted by UH Manoa. Two Leeward students were named as top speakers. Anna Chachka was named 15th top speaker at the tournament and Early College student Jazz Kalingasan was named 9th top speaker. This was the first time Leeward has broken into the Top 10 Speakers of UH’s tournament.
