Hawaii, the Aloha state, is a string of 8 main islands in the north central Pacific Ocean about 2,100 miles west of San Francisco and approximately 3,850 miles east of Japan. English Language Institute Mission Statement

The central mission of the English Language Institute at Leeward Community College is to provide high quality English as a second language (ESL) instruction and orientation in U.S. culture to international students, professionals and other non-native speakers by means of an intensive English program.

To achieve this mission, the English Language Institute pursues the following goals:

International Programs - Credit Transfer

Students who have attended a college or university in the U.S. prior to Leeward may be eligible to transfer some or all of their credits for use towards a Leeward degree. Requests for evaluation of such credits may be made after acceptance and the initial advising appointment.

If you have earned credit from a college or university outside the U.S. some credits may still be transferrable to Leeward. You should request a foreign transcript evaluation. See the International Student Advisor for more information or email lccintl@hawaii.edu

International Programs - Advising

The International Student Advisor (ISA) at Leeward has expertise specifically to meet international students’ needs and is available to assist students with making academic decisions and educational plans.

The ISA will help you with registration, university transfer, degree and graduation requirements, course selection, major and career planning and Leeward services. Additionally, the ISA can advise you about the range of issues involved with maintaining your F-1 visa.
