Hawaii's Promise

Available starting in Fall 2017!

The Hawai‘i  Promise Scholarship is a need-based award intended to be applied toward the unmet need of qualified students enrolled at any community college campus of the University of Hawai‘i.

Awards are contingent upon funding and amounts are determined by the individual students’ FAFSA information. Recipients are selected based on the following criteria combined with the use of a selecting algorithm.

APPROVED CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS FOR GAINFUL EMPLOYMENT

Effective July 1, 2011, federal regulations published in the Federal Register on October 29, 2010 by the U.S. Department of Education require postsecondary institutions that participate in the student financial assistance programs authorized under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, to disclose certain information to prospective students about their Title IV aid eligible educational programs that lead to gainful employment in a recognized occupation (GE Program).

Apply for as many scholarships as you can – it’s free money for college!  There are many scholarships available for students to apply for through various institutions and foundations.  Although applying for scholarships requires extra research and steps on your part, they are worth it since they do not need to be repaid!

Financial Aid / Apply for Aid

To apply for federal student aid, you need to complete the FAFSA (the Free Application for Federal Student Aid).  Completing the FAFSA is simple and fast, but best of all, it’s FREE!  It will also provide you access to the largest source of financial aid to pay for college.  Your FAFSA information will also be used to determine eligibility for available state and school aid.
