APPROVED CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS FOR GAINFUL EMPLOYMENT

Effective July 1, 2011, federal regulations published in the Federal Register on October 29, 2010 by the U.S. Department of Education require postsecondary institutions that participate in the student financial assistance programs authorized under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, to disclose certain information to prospective students about their Title IV aid eligible educational programs that lead to gainful employment in a recognized occupation (GE Program).

Leeward Community College utilizes standard budgets which are updated annually by the University of Hawaii's Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs. The budgets are a reflection of the changes in national cost of living figures and local community costs. The cost of attendance includes more than the items the student pays to the institution.

Apply for as many scholarships as you can – it’s free money for college!  There are many scholarships available for students to apply for through various institutions and foundations.  Although applying for scholarships requires extra research and steps on your part, they are worth it since they do not need to be repaid!

To apply for federal student aid, you need to complete the FAFSA (the Free Application for Federal Student Aid).  Completing the FAFSA is simple and fast, but best of all, it’s FREE!  It will also provide you access to the largest source of financial aid to pay for college.  Your FAFSA information will also be used to determine eligibility for available state and school aid.
