Two Pathways to Hawaiian Self-Determination

A Hawaiian Studies lecture series addressing two pathways to Hawaiian self-determination. On December 3, join Maj. Gen. Correa to learn more about the Kanaiolowalu project and its role in Hawaii’s future. On December 4, join Professor Osorio as he discusses Hawaiian sovereignty and political independence and its role in Hawaiʻi’s future.

Edward "Butch" Correa is a retired Army Major General and lawyer who supports the efforts of the Native Hawaiian Roll Commission.  The Kanaʻiolowalu Project is a year-long campaign to enroll eligible Native Hawaiians who wish to participate in the reorganization of a Native Hawaiian governing entity under the State of Hawaiʻi.

Join Maj. Gen. Correa to learn more about the Kanaiolowalu project and its role in Hawaii’s future.

Jonathan Kamakawiwo‘ole Osorio, is a Professor of Hawaiian Studies at the University of Hawaii at Mānoa, a historian of the Hawaiian Kingdom, and a practicing musician and composer. He is an advocate for the restoration of Hawaiʻi’s political independence, and writes about the sovereignty movement in Hawaiʻi

Join Professor Osorio as he discusses Hawaiian sovereignty and independence and its role in Hawaiʻi’s future.
