For the second year in a row, our fine dining restaurant, The Pearl, was recognized as a critics’ choice favorite for the Honolulu Star Advertiser’s annual ʻIlima Awards, the annual guide to Oʻahu’s top restaurants.
Honolulu Star-Advertiser dining and food writers selected The Pearl fir the Critics Choice Special Award: Rising Stars. The Pearl was selected for its “consistent level of quality offered by the student chefs and the dining room staff.”
Located on the second floor of the Campus Center, The Pearl is a learning lab for the college’s culinary arts program. It allows students in Dining Room Operations and Contemporary Cuisine courses to practice hospitality and service skills and create and prepare contemporary cuisine typically featured in today’s restaurants.
“The restaurant is popular with the community and provides real-world experiences that allow students to prepare for jobs in upscale food operations,” said Culinary Arts Program Coordinator Tommylynn Benavente. Chancellor Manny Cabral adds. "Congratulations to the students, faculty and staff for the continuing excellence in cuisine that they bring to Leeward's The Pearl!"
