Leeward CC lecturer, Barbara Naki, was a recipient of the Jonathan Won Child Maltreatment Prevention Award at the 9th Annual Hawaii Conference on Preventing, Assessing, and Treating Child, Adolescent, and Adult Trauma. The award, presented by the Institute on Violence, Abuse and Trauma (IVAT), recognizes outstanding achievement in the field of prevention of child maltreatment, abuse and neglect.
Barbara has been implementing training programs, curricular design and clinical services for more than 40 years. She is one of the five co-founders of The Institute for Family Enrichment which has grown over the past 28 years into an organization with over 370 staff statewide providing an array of services for and on behalf of children, adolescents, adults and families across the State of Hawaii.
Barbara teaches a variety of Human Services courses at Leeward CC Waianae, including Self Exploration, Individual and Group Counseling, Case Management, and Sexual Assault and Family Violence. She has taught at the Waianae campus for 20 years.
