“Academic Services provides comprehensive programs, resources, spaces and events that support and enrich our students, faculty, staff and community.” Mission Statement
Academic Services is a very unique unit within the college’s organizational system. The six areas that comprise the Academic Services serve all members of our campus and our community beyond. We are behind every paper handout, power point slide, internet connection, reference material and new instructional skill that an instructor incorporates into their instruction. These six areas are; The Library, Leeward Theatre, Educational Media Center, Information Technology, Learning Resource Center, and Innovation Center for Teaching and Learning.
Our Library consists of six full time Librarians, including one specializing in Pacific Island and Hawaiian Resources. We are dedicated to provide print, electronic and instructional resources for our students, faculty, staff and community. Our Educational Media Center provides media resources and training for our faculty, facilitates our Distance Ed program as well as overseeing our Smart Classrooms. The Learning Resource Center provides Content Tutoring, Writing Consultants and support services to our students with disabilities. The Innovation Center for Teaching and Learning works closely with their advisory committee to provide professional development to faculty, staff and student workers. These four areas are housed in our Learning Commons Building which is an active, student centered learning space offering a technology rich setting complete with fresh brewed Kimo Bean coffee and pastries.
The Leeward Theatre’s main stage productions feature both local and world-wide performances to enrich our school and community as well as provide instructional space for various Arts and Humanities classes. Information Technology encompasses many resources, desk or lap top computers to employees and students, a Help Desk that is just that, coming to the rescue when in need, managing wifi throughout the campus, overseeing a secure internet infrastructure and the Testing Center.
The faculty, staff and student workers that comprise Academic Services work very hard toward the success of everyone on our campus and are proud of our place in the campus and community. If you have any questions about our services, or suggestions in ways we can improve, please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss your thoughts.
