The Institutional Merit Award recognizes excellence in the delivery and impact of staff, program and organizational development programs and in the promotion of these outstanding programs. Evaluation criteria included program objectives, creativity/innovation, impact and evaluation of outcomes. Cindy Martin, Staff Development Coordinator, accepted the award for our college at the annual Awards Luncheon on Friday, October 28, 2011 where a visual presentation introduced and featured the award winners.

Congratulations and mahalo to all of our faculty, lecturers, and staff for the great work and support of our Professional Development Program that earned this recognition for Leeward Community College and to Cindy Martin for her unwavering dedication and leadership.

From the NCSPOD website:

At Leeward Community College, professional development is valued, institutionalized, comprehensive, and inclusive.  Faculty, adjunct faculty, and staff (custodians to administrators) all directly plan, organize, and evaluate professional development programs at Leeward Community College.  A comprehensive professional development program that supports all faculty (full-time and adjuncts) and staff has been thriving at Leeward Community College for the past twenty years.

Ms. Martin credits Leeward’s success to a strong advisory committee, supportive division chairs and administrators, and faculty and staff who are truly committed to student success.
