Faculty Win Awards

Congratulations to Jean Hara, Beth Kupper-Herr and Shelly Ota.

Jean Hara, Business Professor Jean Hara was presented with the Western Business Education Association's (WBEA) Distinguished Service Award at the WBEA Conference on February 20, 2011 in Tukwila, Washington. Hara has served as WBEA Conference chair, WBEA president, and Strategic Planning Committee member. She is a past recipient of the WBEA Postsecondary Teacher of the Year Award and the UH Board of Regents Excellence in Teaching Award. Western Business Education Association is an affiliate of the National Business Education Association and seeks to share educational experiences that will prepare individuals to excel as consumers, workers, and citizens in our economic systems.

Beth Kupper Herr, LRC Coordinator, received the Innovation of the Year Award from the Wo Learning Champions for her Language Conversation Groups. Her project will be sent to the League for Innovation in the Community College and she'll  receive a $500 professional development mini-grant.

Shelley Ota, Business faculty and division chair was awarded 1st Honorable Mention for the Wo Learning Champion's Community Building Award  for the annual Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program. Shelley will receive a $300 professional development mini-grant.
