Make a Difference by Participating in the CCSSE Survey


What is the CCSSE (Community College Survey of Student Engagement)?
The CCSSE asks about your college experiences related to how you spend your time and what you feel about your classes and interactions with faculty, counselors, and peers. This important survey helps Leeward Community College to be a better place of learning.

How do I complete the survey?
Search your email account for the keyword “CCSSE” on or after March 23. You will have received an email invitation from Chancellor Carlos Peñaloza with a link to complete the survey online. Alternatively, login on Laulima between March 23 - April 9, and all qualified students, which are the majority of Leeward students, will see a popup message inviting them to participate in the survey.

You can pause the survey at any time and resume later. Your responses will be automatically saved. The survey is mobile-friendly.

All students who complete the survey by April 9, 2021 will be entered into a prize drawing for a MacBook Pro laptop 13”, a Dell laptop 13”, 6 AirPods Pro, and 16 AirPods, 2nd gen. Winners will be contacted by the Office of Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs via email. Leeward Community College employees who are taking classes at Leeward CC are not eligible for prize drawing. Student employees who are taking classes at Leeward CC are eligible. Prize(s) that may be awarded to eligible winner(s) are not transferable, redeemable for cash or exchangeable for any other prize.

When is the survey happening?
The survey period begins March 23. Students will be initially invited to participate via an email from the Chancellor. Students who have not yet completed the survey will continue to receive survey reminders till April 9.

Why should I take part?
Simply put, your participation makes a difference. It is a way for you to have a voice in your education, to let us know what we are doing right, as well as identify areas for improvement.

How long will it take?
The online survey takes on average 20 minutes to complete.

Do I have to complete the survey?
The survey is entirely voluntary, and there will be no consequences for those who do not take part.

Will my responses be kept confidential?
Yes, your responses will be kept strictly confidential within the college, although they are not anonymous. Only authorized personnel have access to the survey data, and only the aggregated data will be shared with campus decision makers.

How can I find out more about CCSSE and how past results have been used?
You can check out the CCSSE website. CCSSE results have been presented to and used by the college administration, faculty and staff for continuous improvement.
