Parking Updates - Fall 2009

Aloha and Welcome to all new and returning Students, Faculty, and Staff;

LCC is expecting record student enrollment this semester which means that you may experience some parking challenges. To ensure that everyone who studies, works, and visits our campus can do so safely, there are several parking lot updates and restrictions that will be in force beginning Monday, August 24th:

1. Due to various construction projects in-progress, parking will not be allowed in the following areas: the Nursing Building lot; the overflow parking lot on the lower campus; the service delivery road makai of the DA building; and a portion of the gravel lot on the Diamond Head side of campus.

2. Please be respectful of designated parking spaces for disability access, reserved stalls, state vehicle stalls, loading zones, and delivery areas. Special requests for use of these spaces must be coordinated with the Campus Security Office in advance.

3. Parking is not allowed on any area of campus is that has been coned and parking is not allowed on any grass areas of campus.

4. Parking is not allowed along the main entrance to campus on Ala Ike. This roadway falls under the jurisdiction of the Honolulu Police Department(HPD) and the State Department of Transportation. HPD does patrol this area and has ticketed parking offenders in the past.

5. Finally, please consider alternative transportation methods to and from the campus. Regular and frequent bus service is provided by TheBus, consider car-pooling options with your co-workers or fellow students, or bike to work via the Pearl Harbor Historic Trail. Many of the options available are not only good for your own health and fitness but that of the environment as well.

Please have a safe, productive, and fun fall semester!

Mark Lane, Vice Chancellor of Administrative Services
