Free eWaste Recycling for Educational Institutions
Apple is offering a free electronics recycling program for educational institutions during June, July, and August. Unlike the Fall 2008 program, this program will not require central collection from fixed locations during a single week. Instead, Apple is using a web-based system to allow any campus, education center or public school to request free pickup and disposal from locations within the State where there are 25 or more systems to be recycled. Requests must be submitted online to Apple by July 31.
All brands of the following equipment are accepted with no purchase required: computers, monitors, laptops, printers, fax machines, scanners, desktop-size copy machines, CD drives, hard drives, TVs, VCRs, projectors, overhead projectors, networking equipment, cables, keyboards, and mice. All equipment MUST BE palletized and shrink wrapped prior to pickup.
Arrangements have been made by select UH campuses for aggregation/preparation and centralized pick up of equipment; information for participation by UH campuses can be accessed at: http://www.hawaii.edu/askus/1010. Complete details on the Apple program are available on their corporate website at: http://www.apple.com/education/recycle/index.php
