Two projects will temporarily impact parking
Construction work began on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 for the installation of the College's second flagpole on the Pearl City campus. Several parking stalls directly mauka of the Bus Stop pavilion will be reserved for contractor bins and equipment. Please be aware and respectful of the construction barriers that will be in place.
This project is part of the UH system initiative to install two flag poles on each of the main campuses for all ten colleges of universities of the UH system.
Photovoltaic Parking Lot Structure
Leeward is leading the UH effort in reaching a net zero goal with respect to energy use. Working diligently with various private business partners, the College is about to embark on a solar energy production and storage project that will enable us to reach 98 percent of our net zero goal. To do this, however, will require some disruption to our normal parking lot operations for the next 3 months.
Beginning Tuesday, November 13, 2018, our contractors will begin work to construct the photovoltaic parking lot structure that will eventually cover the majority of parking stalls facing our Education, Theatre, and LA buildings.
161 parking stalls will be unavailable for the first phase of this project. These stalls will be in parking lots mauka of the ED building and the Theatre. It is expected that these stalls will be unavailable for campus use until Friday, December 7, 2018.
Future phases planned for this project include:
- Phase II will make 158 parking stalls directly mauka of the LA building unavailable from December 7, 2018 until classes begin on January 7, 2019.
- Phase III will make 135 parking stalls near the main gate unavailable during winter break and turned back over for College use by February 12, 2018.
Watch your emails for announcements of any changes to this planned work schedule.
Please be aware and respectful of the construction boundaries - for your own personal safety and the safety of our contractors. Thank you for your continuing cooperation and patience!
