Thank you to those who are able to attend the Hawai‘i Student Success Institute (HSSI) on March 3, 2017. The UHCC system is committed to providing this system-wide professional development day for faculty and staff, and I hope you were able to participate.
This past HSSI was dedicated to communicating information about the UHCC system’s Pathways Initiative which includes Guided Pathways and Exploratory Majors, among other topics. Some participants have expressed concern about the goal of the Guided Pathways and Exploratory Majors projects, and the impact on our students.
I will be hosting a Talk Story on Guided Pathways and Exploratory Majors on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm in GT 105. The STAR GPS Core Team will be available to demonstrate how the new Exploratory Majors will be designed in STAR GPS and answer your questions about how guided pathways are determined. I will also be there to get feedback on your concerns so we can address them as a campus.
