Three awards for student publication
For the third consecutive year Ka Manaʻo, Leeward’s student publication, received the runner-up award for School Newspaper Excellence at the Hawaiʻi Publisher Association’s 32nd annual Paʻi Awards. Ka Manaʻo, also placed second in two new categories, Student Design and Student Photography.
The Hawaiʻi Publishers Association is a nonprofit media organization that promotes the print publishing industry in Hawaiʻi. The Pa‘i Awards celebrate the talented work of Hawaii’s newspapers and publications.
Stan Lee, Ka Manaʻo’s advisor states, "At the community college level, we experience turnover every semester with students graduating, transferring to four-year colleges and following up on professional opportunities. We have had incredible student editors and leaders who helped maintain a level of consistency over the years. The awards also reflect our layout designers who oversaw a redesign last summer to create an even slicker magazine."
