HŌʻIKEĀKEA

Hawaiian Studies Student Art Showcase

Leeward's Hawaiian Studies program presents its first Student Art Showcase, Hōʻikeākea. The exhibit will have an Opening Presentation on Friday, February 16, from 10:30-11:00am in Kapunawai, the Hawaiian and Pacific Resource Center in the Learning Commons.

Hōʻikeākea means "to reveal openly and clearly." Students from multiple sections of our introduction to Hawaiian Studies course (HWST 107) reveal their thoughts about Hawaiʻi, nature, current issues, and other subjects using various media.

Come to the opening presentation to meet the artists. Visit Kapunawai during regular library hours between February 16 and March 10 to view the exhibit at your leisure.

This exhibit is possible because of the generous support of the Leeward Community College Library faculty and staff. We especially want to thank Annemarie Paikai, our Hawaiʻi-Pacific Resource Librarian, and Hawaiian Studies Instructor, John Laimana, for taking the lead on this project.

The Showcase runs through March 10, 2017.
