New Program to Help with Math Placement

Ka Manaʻo Excellence Acknowledged

Ka Manaʻo, the campus publication of Leeward Community College, took top honors for School Newspaper Excellence at the Hawaii Publisher Association's Paʻi Awards on Thursday, May 15 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. The Hawaii Publishers Association is a nonprofit media organization that promotes the print publishing industry in Hawaii.

Outstanding Chemistry Students Honored

Congratulations to our award-winning chemistry students!

The Hawaii Chapter of the American Chemical Society (ACS) honored the following students as Outstanding Chemistry Students of Year at Leeward CC during their annual awards banquet held Tuesday, May 6 at the Kaʻikena Restaurant.  Each student was recognized by the organization, received a certificate from the ACS Hawaii Chapter, and were treated to a buffet dinner.  Professor Michael Reese, Dr. Bradley Ashburn, and Dr. Jeffrey Tibbitt presented the honorees with their awards.

Emme Gets Her AA Degree!

On May 7, 2014, at the UH Alumni Awards Dinner, Chancellor Manny Cabral was honored to present longtime island TV personality, Emme Tomimbang with her AA degree after she had attended Leeward for two years from 1968-1970 and then transferred to Manoa with full junior status.

Public Forums for UH Presidential Finalists at Leeward

Finalists for the position of president of the University of Hawaiʻi System will be on campus for public forums and meetings with students, faculty and the community. Following these visits, the Board of Regents hopes to select a president in June 2014.
