Pre-College Program for Adult Learners

Leeward CC-Wai‘anae is offering a Pre-College Program for Adult Learners in Fall 2011 and Spring 2012. The purpose of this program is to encourage adults who have never been to college to apply and ultimately register for classes. The program consists of a series of workshops, trainings, and orientations that will take them through the process of applying for college, applying for financial aid, taking the COMPASS placement test, setting up their UH Portal, and registering for classes. The program also provides access to basic skills remediation in reading and math through Ready, Set, Grow! and online workshops in college success skills through StudentLingo.

Participants who attend the first four workshops (Applying for College, Applying for Financial Aid, Career Assessments, and COMPASS Test Orientation) will receive a $100 stipend when they receive their letter of acceptance from Leeward Community College and complete the COMPASS placement test. (Limited the first 70 participants to complete.)
