October 17, 2014

Due to Hurrican Ana, all classes, activities, and events scheduled for either the Pearl City or Waianae campuses will be cancelled from 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2014 through Sunday, October 19, 2014.  The Pearl City and Waianae campuses are expected to resume normal operating schedules on Monday, October 20, 2014.

The University of Hawaii System continues to monitor Hurricane Ana and is working closely with state and county officials to anticipate its possible impact on Hawaii.

Leeward CC campuses at Pearl City and Waianae will be closed on Friday 
August 8th, Saturday August 9th, and Sunday August 10th.  All classes 
and activities are cancelled for these 3 days.  The campus closure will 
take effect at 11:00 p.m. this evening.  Only emergency response 
personnel will be allowed on campus as gates will be closed and

For the safety of students, faculty and staff, the University of Hawaii 
will be closing all campuses on Oahu and Kauai on Friday, August 
8, 2014 in anticipation of severe weather caused by Hurricane 
Currently Oahu, Kauai County and Maui County are under tropical 
storm warnings.  Hawaii Island is under a hurricane warning. 
UH Hilo and Hawaii Community College, along with its West Hawaii 
Education Center on Hawaii Island are closed today, August 7th 
and Friday, August 8th due to potentially dangerous weather 
UH Maui College and its Education Centers in Hana and Lahaina and 
on Moloka'i and Lana'i will close at noon on today, August 7th and 
all day Friday, August 8th.  Weekend operations will also be

Resolution to the March 10, 2014 Parking Lot Incident...

The suspect in the March 10th incident has been identified and has been "trespassed" from Leeward CC.  This means that the suspect was informed that he cannot return to the College, was escorted off the premises by Campus Security, and is banned from entering campus property.

This will be the last message sent to the College community regarding this incident.

The investigation into the alleged incident of 3/10/2014 is continuing.  The alleged incident involved the unwanted sexual advances of the suspect on a female student and included forcibly grabbing her arm, hugging, and attempted kissing.  The incident occurred in a campus parking lot.

Suspect is described as being a male, 6’4”, dark complexion, black hair, 25 to 35 years of age, and was last seen wearing a green UH logo shirt, a green baseball cap, and white basketball pants.  Suspect was seen driving a 4-door, light blue compact vehicle - either Hyundai or Kia make of vehicle.

The campus community is asked to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity involving anyone meeting the description of the suspect to Campus Security (455-0611) or the Honolulu Police Department (911).

Security Tips:
- Security escorts are available for students requesting assistance.
- Park and walk in lighted areas - walk with others
- Familiarize yourself with locations of emergency “Code Blue” call boxes
- Be alert and aware of your surroundings
- Walk briskly and be aware of anyone walking behind you
- Take precautions using elevators
- Have your keys ready when approaching your vehicle so that you can minimize the time to get into your vehicle
- Report all incidents regardless of the severity
- Campus Security is available 24/7 – call 455-0611 for assistance

The investigation into today's sexual assault incident are continuing. Please notify Campus Security (455-0611) immediately to report any suspicious activity involving
anyone meeting the following description; male, 6'4", dark complexion, black hair, 25 to 35 years of age, wearing a green UH logo shirt, a green hat, and white pants. Suspect was seen driving a light blue 4-door compact vehicle.

Campus Security escorts are available for students requesting assistance. Further updates will be provided as developments warrant.
