Dean of Student Services
The Office of the Dean of Student Services (DOSS) exists to coordinate the efforts of multiple offices whose work involves support for students.
These include Admissions and Records, Financial Aid, Advising & Counseling, the Student Health Center, the Office of Student Life, and Job Prep Services. Additionally the DOSS oversees the college’s Recruitment Office and the TRiO Upward Bound Program. Each of these areas has its own website linked above where additional information may be found.
The Student Services Program Officer works closely with the DOSS in three major areas
- Student Code of Conduct investigations and concerns;
- appeals to the Dean affecting registration and student accounts;
- and as an “ombudsman” or student advocate when there may be issues with which a student needs help and does not know where to seek that assistance.
In addition to overseeing the work of these offices, the Dean of Student Services provides direct assistance and referral to students who may be having difficulty in any area. The DOSS Office can facilitate student concerns and grievances, acting on behalf of individual students or groups of students who may need assistance in locating the right resources to solve problems or to address complaints. When the concern is not directly related to one of the areas under the supervision of the DOSS, the office can help a student process his or her complaint or address his or her concern to the most appropriate campus or UH system resource.
Complaints: To file a complaint about any aspect of your college experience, please download and use the Complaint form (pdf).
As the Dean of Student Services, I perceive myself to be one of a team of campus professionals whose job it is to carry forward the college’s purpose, “to help people learn." Please let me know how I can help you!
