On Thursday, November 30, 2011, the UH Board of Regents unanimously approved the establishment of a new provisional degree program: the Associate in Science in Natural Science Degree (ASNS) with a concentration in three areas: Life Science, Physical Science or Engineering. Leeward CC has one of the largest Math & Sciences divisions in the UH Community College system, offering more than 200 sections each semester in a variety of disciplines.
Our dedicated faculty and staff are committed to working with students on an individualized basis. Many courses offer one-on-one assistance throughout the day in an “open lab” approach. Students have a wide range of opportunities…from extracting DNA in our state-of-the art biotech lab to working on space grant research.
Did you know…
- Leeward CC has produced several UHM Outstanding Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Graduates. Typically, about 12% of of all engineering graduates from the UHM College of Engineering started at Leeward CC. Engineering at Leeward.
- Our Information & Computer Science faculty guided students through advanced wireless networking and technologies resulting in the wireless network design for the Manoa Innovation Center and a wireless pilot project with the United States Geological Study on Oahu.
- The campus created and maintains the state’s largest Shade House for endangered Hawaiian native dry land species.
- The Leeward CC Marine Option Program contracts with Kaho‘olawe Island Reserve Commission for underwater surveys of coral reefs. The program is also involved with the Kalaeloa habitat restoration project, in partnership with Ka‘ala Farms, and U.S, Fish & Wildlife Service
